Making use of Subversion in the office
08-09-2008 09:01:22

I have become a strong believer in the use of Subversion (svn) in the workplace. Subversion can increase the feeling "team work" between all business departments. The use of svn in the workplace provides an infrastructure containing: revision management, organization, and accountability for an individual. As a project subversion can aid in creating a streamlined business process for all phases of the system development life cycle. When used inter-department, subversion can increase productivity, and streamline sharing of project specific work. Team work always makes things better. Think about using subversion at your organization. It can be used in many ways.

Please see Subversion's website for information about using this tool.

BSD

I have this thing for OpenBSD, it has been a long time favorite OS. In the past I have appreciated its simple configuration, proactive security, and the organizations presence in the open source world. It would be nice if the OS had a wider support from the technology industry.

One of its brothers, FreeBSD has probably the largest community of all BSD like operating systems. As a result, the FreeBSD hardware and software support is vast in comparison to its siblings.

Let us not forget to thank OpenBSD for creating OpenSSH, PF - the OpenBSD Packet Filter, and persuading wireless nic card vendors to release their firmware. This is not an exhaustive list of high profile activities that relate to OpenBSD. Please do your research for more information.

I sorta stopped eating the fake chicken sandwiches and have begun to eat more beef and vegetables.

I've also got this hunch that mango is really good for me. Too bad I didn't pick any up today! I suppose that is what tomorrow is for.

Metal Gear Solid 4

It is made by Konami and is probably one of the best games I have played all year. It gives some light on the future of games and the potential of the PlayStation 3.

Previously I did not held my computer in a higher area of esteem than my PS3.

Bottom line, the game is good. Get it Metal Gear Solid 4.

Konami is also making Silent Hill 5. I hope that this game surpasses my current excitement as well.

Site Development

Site development has been slow lately. In fact I have not had time to update it for about a month. This is a result of other things taking up my time, and video games :)

Don't worry I will finish it some time.

Moving Forward

As I am creating this web site, I am eager to start filling out some of the other sections. Hopefully, sometime in the next two months, this site will be serving an IPTables intro tutorial. After this the concepts will be expanded upon. They will eventually include an IPTables and OpenSwan VPN configuration.

I am looking forward into the future. Open Source Lives!
